I
just wanted to let you all know that Manu passed away today.
We are all very sad but feel so blessed to have had him in our lives
for 12+ years (though of course it feels as though it is not nearly
enough time )
He was our child before we had children... he welcomed each one of our
little humans graciously and lovingly...
He was a very strong part of our family and the house just doesn't feel
the same without him. he protected this house while frank traveled,
served his community as a wonderful therapy dog, was a great mentor
to the many foster dogs that stayed with us and served as a great role
model for the new dogs that came to live here after him.. My greatest
thanks to him though is for the time Nicholas went missing in the snowstorm
(2 years old ) and he crossed our property line... We found the baby
face down in the snow and Manu stood vigilantly by him... protecting
him from the storm and using all the instincts of his rescue - dog nature..
As you all know.. I have had opportunity to love and nurture many animals...
but Manu and Ihad a special connection... a silent communication...
we always knew what the other was thinking... he would always wait for
me on a hike.. and look back to make sure i was coming.. always pause
if the distance got too great... he was always in my car with me ....always
my faithful companion..
He was stubborn and set in his ways.. and always in control of every
situation. he was a gentle giant with a heart as big as he was... he
will be forever missed...
As I told a dear friend today.. the world just seems a little more lonely
to me today... feels like a piece of me is missing... he was a dignified
dog with so much pride and I am glad he didn't suffer...
We all loved him very much and will miss him everyday..... I'm sure
he was just as special to many of you and we just wanted you all to
know of our loss :(
